relational percentage to your income as compared to an established norm.

Dealership Sales Analysis is a complete automobile sales analysis program. It
keeps track of clients and inventory information and prints complete sales
transaction and loan analysis for multiple loan periods.

Depreciation will calculate depreciation on assets using double declining
balance, sum of the year's digits, or straight line.

Biorhythm is a complete biorhythm analysis for any year, past, present, or
future. It can be sent to the screen or the printer.

DAYO Programs
   TJS Lab ASP

A large set of disks make up a system called DAYO. We will briefly describe
each of the programs in this set. The registration fee is shown for each, and
the shareware disks are available individually from PsL. Most (if not all) of
the programs can be used in a multi-user mode on a network. These are
powerful, feature-filled programs. For example, the Point of Sale program
supports cash registers that plug into a serial port. While the programs are
well documented and fairly intuitive, the sheer number of features takes these
out of the realm of pick-it-up-and-run software. All DAYO programs require 640k,
DOS 3.3+, and a hard disk. (These programs are available on our low-cost
MegaDisk sets, as indicated by the 7000-series numbers. All disks with the
same 7000-series number, such as 7008, are part of a set available for $6.99.)

DAYO Accounts Payable [DAYOAP] ($25 #7008/2468 [2 disks]) is a
complete accounts payable program. It will print checks (manual or
recurring) and many different reports, including 1099 forms. (02-94 CD)

DAYO Accounts Receivable ($25, #7008/2323 [2 disks]) handles statements,
customers, cash receipts, terms, invoice types, tax codes, sales persons, and
more. Many reports can be printed.

DAYO Inventory ($25, #7008/2320) is a multiuser inventory control, purchasing,
and vendor maintenance application. Use it to create and maintain an inventory
of any product. It includes such features as reports, labels, lists, and a
graph.

DAYO Price Book ($25, #7009/2317) is a system of creating and maintaining
specialized pricing for customer or clients. Special pricing includes Fixed,
Margin, and List Discounts. Price books, catalogs, mailing labels and reports
can be printed.

DAYO POS (Point of Sale) ($25, #7009/2321) is a billing and invoicing
application for any size business. It will allow almost unlimited numbers of
users to have the ability to invoice simultaneously using this one program
while on a PC based LAN/Network. Some of the program highlights include
registers, quote interface (to DAYO Quotes), templates, back orders, data
entry validation, cash drawers (serial port connections), databases are dBase
compatible, HP Laser special invoices, preprinted invoices, standard invoices,
packing/shipping lists, customer ship to/mailing address labels, sales graphs,
special customer pricing (interfaces with DAYO Price Book), 34 configuration
setting, sales tax codes, terms codes, invoice type codes, shippers/method of
shipment codes, credit limits, passwords (with DAYO Passwords), and reports.

DAYO Quotes ($25, #7009/2318) is a system of creating sales order quotes based
on the DAYO Inventory, Customer, and other DAYO databases. Highlights of this
program include templates, multiuser, dBase compatible, HP Laser special
quotes, preprinted quotes forms support, standard quotes forms, customer bill
to/mailing address labels, special customer pricing (With DAYO Price Book),
configuration settings which include sales tax codes, terms codes, invoice
type codes, shippers/method of shipment codes, passwords (with DAYO
Passwords), and reports. Quotes can can be printed on a standard printer or a
Hewlett Packard Laserjet compatible printer.

DAYO Index ($25, #7010/2319) reindex any of the DAYO database.

DAYO End of Period/Purge ($25 #7010/2466) is an optional DAYO Business
Application that can be run at the end of a business period (eg: month) to
clean out deleted/closed invoice, backorder, purchasing, receiving, and
register records and to generate over 20 different reports.

DAYO BackOrder ($25, #7010/2322) is the maintenance module for customers/sales
backorders.

DAYO Passwords ($25, #7010/2316) is a file security system for restricting
access to the various DAYO programs.

DAYO Update ($5 #7010/2469) is for users that are currently using DAYO and
wish to install a new version of the software. This program is not required
for updating, but it simplifies the process.

DAYO General Ledger ($25 #7092/2609) is a double-entry general ledger.
Features include multiuser capability, 20+ reports, budgeting, unlimited
accounts and the ability to export data.

DAYO Look Up ($25 #7092/2610) lets you view data from any DAYO database or
dBASE compatible database.

DAYO Materials Requirement Planning ($25 #7092/2602) lets manufacturers
account for building End Items from other items in the inventory database. It
supports multilevel Bill of Materials. It also includes automatic inventory
posting and creation of inventory adjustment records, dBASE compatible
databases, multiuser, and many reports.

DAYO Menu, Clock, Setup ($5 each #7092/2611) are utilities for the Dayo
programs.

DAYO Time & Billing ($50 #7330/2771 [2 disks]) creates invoices for services
and products. It provides support for inventory, receivables,
projects/jobs/cases, customers/clients, over 30 reports, on-screen viewing of
reports, dBASE compatible, laser formats for invoices and statements, two
styles of statements\bills, printer setup and drivers, cash drawers, and over
46 configurable options.

DAYO Bar Code ($25 #7330/2858) prints 3 of 9 bar codes on a dot matrix
printer. It can be integrated with the DAYO Inventory and the DAYO Customer
databases or as a stand-alone application.

DAYO Payroll ($25 #7330/2917) is a payroll and personnel management system for
businesses of any size. Features include multi-user capability, unlimited
employees, weekly, biweekly, or monthly payrolls, quarterly, year to date, and
current summary databases, dBase compatible databases, vacation and sick day
tracking, check printing, standard or fixed state tax, standard or fixed
federal tax, SDI tax, overtime and premium hourly wages, up to eight
deductions, exempt/non-exempt deductions, the ability to print reports or dump
them to files for later printing or viewing. (Reports cannot be viewed on
screen without saving to disk first.)

You can easily edit tax rates whenever the government changes them. (Some
other programs make you get a program update from the author when rates
change.) Requires 640K, DOS 3.3 or above, and a hard disk. We find the means
of entering payroll hours to be cumbersome, but the availability of default
weekly hours helps a lot.

DAYO Smart Reports ($25 #7471/2467 [2 disks]) generates a variety of reports:
Single Warehouse, Inventory Zero Price, Valuation Expanded, Inventory Zero
Retail, ReOrder (2, 4 or 8 weeks), Negative Onhand, Margin (History, 12
Weeks), StockLevel Over/Shortage, Vendor List, Customer List, Inventory ASCII
Text, Inventory Item List, Late PO, Checking Account List, PO - Due In This
Week, Check Format List, Inventory Zero Cost, and Expenses List.

DAYO GUI POS ($125 #7471/4063) is a Point of Sale program with a Graphical
User Interface. Requires 640K, hard disk, and VGA.

Dayo - Brain ($50 #7530/3195) is a job scheduler and menu that allows
you to run any program or batch file anytime; manually or according to a
schedule. The program can be scheduled to run jobs daily at a specific
time, or every so many minutes, or to run the jobs once, at a specific
date and time. The BRAIN can also act as a Menuing system, allowing you
to select then run the job/program. Other features include: Multi-user,
schedule report to printer or file, dBase compatible schedule database,
PC Paintbrush or Microsoft Paintbrush (.PCX) screens and 'windows',
passwords (4 digit code), keyboard locking, usage graph, disk status,
variable speeds for the schedule, and more. The program requires 640K,
EGA/VGA and a mouse.

DAYO Installation ($? #7530/3418) facilitates the initial installation of the
DAYO system.

DAYO Order Entry ($25 #7530/3419) will create sales orders based on the DAYO
Inventory, customer, and other databases from DAYO. Orders can be printed on a
pre-printed form, on the Laser printer in a special laser format, or standard
form. Other features include Multiuser, dBase compatible databases, customer
bill to/mailing address labels, special customer pricing with the DAYO Price
Book, discount off list, sales tax codes, terms codes, invoice type codes,
shippers/method of shipment codes, passwords and reports.

DAYO Little POS ($25 #7530/3420) is a smaller version of DAYO Point Of Sale
that does not contain any other options other than the invoicing routines.
This is useful on LANs where memory is limited. It must be run in conjunction
with DAYO Point Of Sale.

DAYO Simple POS ($25 #7529/3421) is a point of sale program for businesses
where only a simple receipt is needed and no terms are given. It does not
maintain a customer database.

DAYO Rental POS ($35 #7529/3422) is a Billing and Invoicing program similar to
DAYO Little POS for companies that rent items, equipment, or services.
Requires (AB-06: #7010/2322) DAYO Point Of Sale.

DAYO Return Management System ($45 #7529/3423) keeps track of all items
returned and/or out to vendors. It allows a voucher to be printed that is
similar to an invoice.

DAYO Shipping Log ($25 #7529/3424) records all invoices/goods shipped from
your place of business. It records invoice header and detail information. It
prints labels and many reports.

DAYO Job Costing ($95 #7518/3717) tracks all costs related to a job, project,
task, or work order. Features include multi-user support, work orders, data
entry validation, dBase compatible databases, passwords, labor reports,
multiple printer ports, overhead factor, tax work orders, class code types,
working class codes, multiple work order formats, visual indexing, automatic
daily indexing, record of labor, travelers, item issue, work order master
summary (which is the cost of the job), and more.

DAYO Returns & Refunds ($25 #7518/3425) allows the return and/or refund of a
product into inventory. It produces negative invoices for the customer and
company accounting. Invoices, after being posted into Accounts Receivable,
become credit memos.

DAYO Billing & Invoicing ($75 #7518/3426) is similar to DAYO Point Of Sale,
but emphasizes a Billing and Invoicing approach instead of a Point of Sale
approach. Requires 640K, DOS 3.3 or above and a hard disk.

DAYO Membership ($95 #7518/3427) will track membership for an association or
organization. It maintains records for donations, dues, payments and/or
invoices. It optionally maintains a simple accounting system for dues and/or
donations. Many reports and reporting routines are included.

and sales order quotes; keeps track of contacts and calendar events; and
prints special reports, lists and labels.


DTS Lease vs. Buy Analyzer

Prediction.

Richard Haney, College Station, TX, reports BUG: Programming error in RATE
program. Suggestion: Correct typos in program to "improve perception of
professionalism." Comment: "The concept behind the program's pricing scheme
and bankruptcy prediction models is excellent - well grounded in theory.

or customer number.  We were surprised that the program doesn't do any type of
loan calculations, nevertheless, it appears to be useful for record keeping.

reporting non-accrual accounts and/or charged off accounts. Payoff amounts are

will automatically accrue interest to date (360 or 365 day basis) on all loan
records in your file. Reports include Loan Transactions (history), Loan Trial

Five types of loans can be processed: Simple Interest - Monthly Interest
Calculations, Simple Interest - Daily Interest Calculations, Interest only
with Balloon Payment, Rule of 78, and Partial Amortization with Balloon
payment. Under- and over-payments can be entered and late charges are
automatically calculated. The program is menu driven and easy to use and
should be quite useful to anyone needing to keep up with loans of any type.

Peggy Krause, Corvallis, OR: The program starts to load then displays garbage
across my screen and dumps me back to the DOS prompt.

PsL: We tried this program on four different machines. On two that were running
DOS 5, it worked fine. On two running earlier versions of DOS, it bombed. Our
conclusion is that DOS 5 is required, although the documentation does not
mention this.


Fixed Asset Manager

maintenance contracts. It handles purchased or leased equipment and it tracks by
budget and department codes. It handles a number of user-definable depreciation

ACRS, and MACRS. It makes inventory labels and contains 80 different reports
including complete audit trails. Hard disk and 640k RAM required. The author
can no longer be reached at the address provided in the documentation.


Asset Management System

originally cost and many other features. It provides a method to keep track of
your audios and videos. It can also be easily updated to reflect inflation or

is a powerful job cost monitoring system.  With this program you can set up
multiple jobs each with its own set of cost centers; establish budget controls
for each cost center for labor, material, and other expenses; edit and post
transaction cost items to each cost center; and post estimates of percent
completions for each budget item.  You can also setup budgets for up to 99
change orders per job.

The program will then provide you with cost variances, projected profit and
loss at the detail budget level, cost center level, and total job. As expenses
are posted the overall job status is updated keeping you informed of balance
of funds available and projected profit/loss for the jobs original estimate
and change orders. You are provided reports that will capture this information
for distribution to your client, foreman and sub-contractors. At the end of
the job, after all reporting has been performed, you can backup the completed
job to a disk for storage, delete the job from your active job database and if
necessary restore the job from backup for recording additional cost
information after the job is completed.

Other features include the "expense recap" report which can be limited to
cover those expenses between a given set of dates. This report can be used for
entry directly into your G/L accounting system. The "cost center" maintenance
screen has the new sub-menu function of "view". A report "summary of all jobs"
allows you to view all jobs currently on file.


Finance 101 2.1

is an extensive financial analysis program. Calculations include lease/make
versus buy analysis, internal rate of return, break-even analysis, true value of
a lease, insurance analysis, depreciation analysis and more.

We were, at first, very excited about all the options in this program, but we
were a somewhat disappointed in the actual running of the program. The user
interface is a little rough (you cannot correct a previous input line without
completely starting over), and in a home lease-vs-buy analysis in which we
tried to compare leasing a home for five years versus buying it and financing
it and then selling it in five years, it gave us a realistic number for "Net
advantage of Lease" and correctly concluded that "leasing is more attractive
than buying" based on the data we entered, but these results were marred by a
note that "Value of lease = $82,911.02", which makes no sense, and for which
no explanation was offered.
